The Enyata Academy Experience
Earlier this month, 10 delightful graduates joined the Enyata team 🇳🇬🇬🇭 from the recently-concluded Academy program.
Having been led through the many facets of both the Engineering and Product tracks, we are glad to announce that this cohort has produced 9 engineers and a product manager with a majority of the talents being female.
During onboarding, we got to talk to them about their experiences. Here’s what they had to say:

To be honest getting into the Academy was a difficult process. After I applied, I had a pre-Bootcamp interview with Mr. Joseph, the COO of Enyata.
Fortunately, I passed the interview and was invited to the two-weeks Bootcamp where I learned the fundamentals of software engineering. Those who were accepted into the Bootcamp were paired into groups and required to build a project based on what was taught and present it for evaluation. I guess I did well enough to get accepted into the academy. Getting into the academy, I soon realized it requires a lot of time, dedication, and motivation. At the same time, the experience was fantastic! We didn’t just learn the fundamentals of software engineering; we also learned about teamwork and leadership. I was lucky to meet wonderful teammates, some of whom have become like family to me.I’d like to thank God because I wouldn’t have made it this far without his help. I’d like to thank Mr. Oladayo, the CEO, for allowing me to be a part of the community. I’d like to express my gratitude to Mr. Joseph for his love, care, and mentorship throughout the Academy program. I’d also like to thank Gerald, Cynthia, Lani, Faith, Fatomi, Ammiel, Dolapo, Ayomikun, and Jacob for sharing their knowledge with us in the Academy, as well as for guiding, assisting, and tutoring us throughout the program. I’d also like to give a shoutout to Daniel for being the best company and my brain engine in the Academy, Rashidat for being the sweetest heart, Wunmi for always being there for me, and the rest of the team for being amazing!
I’m looking forward to growing with Enyata and networking with like-minded people.

Before I got into the academy I had been self-learning for a few months and was looking for a real opportunity to break into the tech field. I knew it was not going to be easy since I had zero experience. A friend sent me a link that introduced me to Enyata Academy and I immediately knew that this was the opportunity I needed.
It was a pretty tense process, right from the initial application to the nervous wait for a response mail. I eventually got invited to take an online test, which to be very honest, I was unprepared for. It was nothing I’d seen before, and as much as I felt that I did well, I wasn’t over-confident; yet an invite to a two-week boot camp came in, and I’d never been happier.
We were about 25 in the boot camp, and we had tutors to introduce us to software development; learning Git and Github, HTML, CSS, and bits of JavaScript in the process before getting split into groups and tasked to build and present a mini web app to exhibit what we had learned.
After another period of nervous waiting, I got a mail that I had been selected for Enyata Academy 6.0, along with 9 other amazing teammates.
The Academy was as intensive as foretold. I initially learned UI/UX and how to design on Figma(a skill I’d never picked up), before we moved on to HTML and CSS (Flexbox saved my life while Grid was after my soul). We also had a product management tutor, who really did
a great job of introducing us to the field — loved every bit of it. JavaScript came with its own problems(bugssssssss). I had never felt so frustrated. We went deeper into it than we did during boot camp and in no time, we were building functional apps. VueJS, VueX, NodeJS, Express, and PostgreSQL followed, and the deeper we went, the more we became acclimated to software development.
I was writing code I couldn’t have written just a few months before. I don’t think anything softened the stress more than the monthly alerts from Enyata (something small for data as Mr. Joseph would say), but it was nice that I was being “paid to learn”.
Big shoutout to our facilitator during the Academy, Mr. Joseph, who kept pushing us beyond our limits while also making sure to inculcate discipline and team co-operation. His personality kept morale up even during the most tasking periods and his periodic talks inspired me throughout.
Special thanks to all our tutors; Faith, Lani, Dolapo, Fatomi, Ammiel, Ayomikun, and Jacobs, for being patient even when it seemed like we weren’t getting stuff, and for being available to always help us out when we got stuck.
I’m also super thankful to all my team members all of whose resilience to learn and readiness to solve issues kept me going.
Lastly, I’m extremely grateful to Enyata, for creating this wonderful system to help young people like me grow their tech skills; providing both seasoned tutors and financial incentives to train youths.

I have spent the past few months in the Enyata Academy and during this period, I learned the fundamentals of software development. It has indeed been an amazing journey, and one of the things that stood out to me the most was that in addition to software development, we were also instilled with leadership skills.
I applied for the Academy after seeing the posting on Twitter, and I am grateful to have been one of the few selected to start the Academy on July 4th, 2022, after a two-week boot camp. I would like to thank Enyata for the opportunity; Mr. Joseph for facilitating an impactful Academy experience; The instructors for taking time out of their busy schedules to teach us; And my amazing teammates for all the love and help. I look forward to growing at Enyata

I got into the Enyata Academy in July 2022, after the Enyata Bootcamp. It was a surreal experience for me. I got into the boot camp which lasted for 2 weeks; we were intensively taught during this period, and afterward, we were asked to form 5 teams. Each team is made up of about five people. The teams were all tasked with working on mini projects with the skill sets we learned from the boot camp. We had four days to do this. Following the presentation of our projects, decisions were made. And Viola! 10 of us made it into the academy, and I’m really excited that I did.
Words would fail me to completely describe what my experience was like at the academy. But, in summary, it provided the necessary foundation for me to pursue a career in software engineering. To be really honest, the program was really intense and rigorous. Our calls usually start at 9:00 a.m. in the morning and end at 5:00 p.m. in the evening. Most times with other learning tasks and activities after our routine engagements for the day.
Besides the challenging and prolonged learning process, I also learned the act of leadership (trust me, I can be a shy person). But the chance to lead the team for three cumulative weeks gave me the confidence I needed and dispelled any reservations I had about my leadership abilities. Thanks to Mr. Joe and constructive criticism, my communication and leadership abilities have significantly improved.I would be amiss if I did not mention how I learned to be a team player at the academy. Having access to a wealth of resources and mentorship isn’t easy these days. But I was privileged enough to have all of this at my disposal for 4 months.
First and foremost, there is God, the creator, and doer of all things beautiful. Mr. Joseph, who held our hands and served as a mentor and uncle to all of us, made giving up seem so difficult like it wasn’t an option for all of us. My amazing colleagues, who were really supportive all through, made the whole process seamless; indeed, you don’t have to work alone if you want to travel far. My super-duper tutors, who constantly did their possible best (and sometimes outdid themselves) just to carry all of us along, thank you for your labors of love.
I look forward to an amazing work experience that will support my career growth and help me give back to the Enyata community.

I got into the academy on the 4th of June 2022 after a two weeks intensive boot camp session. My experience at the academy was very lovely, I was privileged to meet people with the same career interest, always ready to support each other, and the friendly environment developed made the whole tense process smooth. Also, the highly skilled instructors were always available to answer questions.
I would like to appreciate Enyata for the initiative, making mention of Mr. Joe the cool, intense, and lovely coordinator, the instructors, and my friendly academy students. I appreciate all that directly or indirectly made the whole training process a success.
I am looking forward to meeting more like-minded people and making contributions to the field as much as possible.

I always knew Law wasn’t the end-game career for me. One day, I had a conversation with a cousin of mine last year on trying out a Tech training that I might like, seeing that during Covid, I learned Data Analytics and I liked it and I actually got interested in the futuristic benefits for a career and I started researching on the best and most prosperous Platform or Organization to learning Software Engineering, I stumbled on Enyata last year 2021 but the application for 5.0 was already closed and I waited for the next batch opening. I was extremely excited and I applied and completed my assessment. I was still working at a Taxation firm during this period, immediately I got a congratulatory email for the 2 weeks of boot camp, and I resigned from work, everyone thought I made a terrible decision( how will you survive, it’s just a boot camp, etc) but I made a decision, was relentlessly persistent and I got into the Academy ( Glory belongs to God).
All I can say is Thank God I didn’t back out, nights, I would cry over and over even though Law didn’t give me consistent Headaches like this. But every time I overcame a bug and accomplished a task I just knew that I could do this.
I will start with God Almighty, My Family, and Friends, also big thanks to Enyata for such a great opportunity; Engineer Dayo, Mr. Joe like I call him ( I like to think he’s God’s sent, he helped my tech transition seamlessly with the consistent push, Advice, and Guidance), All Our Tutors during the academy, My fellow academic colleagues; (Tope, Chijioke, Daniel, Dammy, Ore, Chioma, Yemisi, Vicky, and Rashidat) and my Tech mentor, Samuel Geroge. I’m glad and lucky to have you all in my corner and help me when the hard was tough and now it’s soft.
I’m looking forward to a successful career in the tech space, and I’m excited about the opportunities that the future holds for me in this space.

It was indeed an amazing journey, and we weren’t taught just how to code but also were taught perseverance, endurance, grit as well as leadership skill.

I got a link to the academy through my brother, then I applied, I had no idea what is all about just say I should give it a try and maybe I will pass the test, some days after the test, I got a mail saying have been chosen for the boot camp, I was so surprised, thinking did I really apply for this training because I had been applying for different types of training just to upgrade my certificate, so I read the content of the mail, immediately I saw it a software development training, I became more interested, always checking my mail if there is more information about the training, so I eventually got into the academy, the academy wasn’t easy for me as a newbie, waking up every morning staying on the call from 9 am to 5 pm, with a constant need of internet and electricity.
It was not easy but it was worth it, learning something different from what you are used to.
I really want to appreciate the CEO, (Engr Oladayo Oyelayo) all our instructors at the academy and our facilitator at the academy (Mr. Joseph Oluwasumi ), and my brother. God bless them all.
I am looking forward to learning more under the tutelage of our tutors at Enyata.

I heard about the Enyata Academy from my sister in 2021, she told me to apply but I wasn’t sure at that moment if I was ready to transition into tech so I didn’t apply until this year, 2022. I applied for the Academy after seeing the posting on Instagram, and I am grateful to have been one of the few selected to start the Academy on July 4th, 2022, after a two-week boot camp.
I have spent the past few months in the Enyata Academy and during this period, I learnt the basics of software development. It has been amazing and challenging at the same time but I was able to sail through it.
It was really intensive, we had classes from 9 am-5 pm with only one hour break. Our tutors were extremely amazing and patient with us… and one of the things that stood out to me the most was that in addition to software development, we were also instilled with leadership skills and human etiquette.
I’m extremely grateful to Almighty God, My family, Enyata for the opportunity; Mr. Oladayo Oyelade, and Mr. Joseph for an impactful Academy experience; The Tutors for taking time out of their busy schedules to teach us, and my amazing teammates for all the love and support.
I’m looking forward to a successful career in tech and also to growing at Enyata.
